Matthew Ord at the Insider Media digital team wrote a great article about our continued growth, here’s what was said:

One of the country’s largest privately-owned dairy ingredients companies has posted a near-£60m rise in sales despite coming up against difficult trading conditions.

Headquartered in Wilmslow, County Milk Products was founded in 1994 by current managing director John Langslow. It relocated to its current site in 1997 and become family-owned in 2002.

The company’s products include dairy powder, butter, liquid ingredients and animal nutrition.

For the year to 31 December 2017, County Milk Products reported turnover of £235.7m compared to £173m the prior period.

Pre-tax profits were also up from £948,326 to £1.19m.

In a strategic report accompanying the results, directors noted that they were pleased with the “positive results”.

“While the general trading conditions were difficult, we are fortunate that our reputation for reliability has encouraged both suppliers and customers to consider us as their partner of choice,” it added.

“Sales performance has increased due to an underlying rise in volume and a general increase in dairy commodity prices. The key driver of the company’s financial performance continues to be successfully maintaining its customer base in the domestic and export markets.”

A spokeperson told Insider that the business had grown “through a combination of organic growth of sales and via acquisitions/joint ventures”.

“At Oak Leaf Dairy, our new dryer will allow us to produce milk and whey powder derivatives to further expand our ingredients volumes. At our County Food Ingredients site, both the butter-oil/butter ghee manufacturing and the sauce plant enables us to create industrial, wholesale and retail products.

“When these are allied to our farmer base, these afford us full vertical integration from Brexit-proofed UK sites – which should facilitate further growth.”
